C. &amp;amp; C. M. Tonks, Ventonwyn Farm, Tregony, Truro, Cornwall.           &lt;br /&gt;Classified as a heifer VG88      .She came to Clifton with the entire Ventonwyn herd when we restocked 8th Feb 2002.&lt;/p&gt;   &lt;p&gt;­  Due to foot and mouth she did not get classified until 28th June 2002 when in her third lactaction was scored 92 points, reaching 94 points in May 2005 when in her 5th lactaction.&lt;/p&gt;      &lt;p&gt;She then went 95 points 7E in Aug 2008 in her 9th Lactation.&amp;nbsp; She was last classified on 16th March 2010 scoring 95 points again to make her 9E in her 11th lactaction,           &lt;br /&gt;a break down of her score was           &lt;br /&gt;Body: 92           &lt;br /&gt;Dairy Strength: 97           &lt;br /&gt;Legs &amp;amp; Feet : 97           &lt;br /&gt;Mammary : 93&lt;/p&gt;   &lt;p&gt;Production:           &lt;br /&gt;She has yielded 76418 litres in 10 lactations to give an average of 7641 in 10 lacs at average of 5.33%BF. She calved on the 12th Feb 2010 with a heifer calf by Woodstock Lexington and is currently yielding 27 litres at 5.41% BF.&lt;/p&gt;   &lt;p&gt;Health:           &lt;br /&gt;She has held to first service every lactation except when she was flushed, which was not successful. She has only had one foot trimmed in her entire life and still lives in a herd of 260 cows in cubicles.           &lt;br /&gt;Progeny:           &lt;br /&gt;She has bred four heifers. Her best being Ventonwyn Phillipa VG88 and Clifton Bomber Pippa VG85 with whom she has won Dam and Daughter competitions on numerous occasions.&amp;nbsp;           &lt;br /&gt;Her sons Ventonwyn Percy was kept for us by Richard Tonks for use when we restocked it produced 19 heifers, 8 of them now VG, 1 Ex and 5GP. With Clifton Crimson 91 2E the best giving 10,632 litres in her 3rd lactation and now in her 4th having done 3252 litres in 67 days.           &lt;br /&gt;One son Clifton Futruty Pedro by Sunset Canyon Futrity has been sold to White Oaks Farming Co and one son Clifton Premonition by Bridon Remake Comerica being used in the Saxown herd.&lt;/p&gt;   &lt;p&gt;She has never been at the right stage of lactation to show as a cow in milk, but has won numerous dry cow classes.&amp;nbsp; In herd competitions has won Best non-home bred cow, Best 50,000K cow on numerous occasions and has been a member of the best group of three several times.&amp;nbsp; We are hoping in 2010 that she will be back competing in the herd competitions as we have taken a break from competitions in 2009           &lt;/p&gt;</description></item><item><title>First Female Winner of the Y.F.C. Stockspersons Trophy</title><link>http://www.cliftonjerseys.co.uk/news.php#28</link><pubDate>2009-09-10</pubDate><description>&lt;h1&gt;YFC Stock Judging&lt;/h1&gt;   &lt;p&gt;2009 Young Farmers Stock Judging Competition&lt;/p&gt;   &lt;p&gt;Almost 60 Young Farmers from clubs throughout Cumbria met at Park House Farm, Heversham to compete in the Westmorland County Agricultural Society's 13&lt;sup&gt;&lt;font size=&quot;2&quot;&gt;th&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/sup&gt; annual Stock Judging event.&lt;/p&gt;   &lt;p&gt;The competition included judging prime lambs, dairy and beef cattle and a veterinary questionnaire with all competitors assessing the livestock against a master judge's placings before giving traditional reasons.&amp;nbsp; Competition was particularly keen amongst the Young Farmers, with just a few marks separating the top placings in each section.&lt;/p&gt;   &lt;p&gt;President Dorrie Galbraith commented &amp;quot;It is fantastic to see so many youngsters taking part in traditional stockjudging competitions, and with such high standards we can be sure of competent farmers in the future.&amp;quot;&lt;/p&gt;   &lt;p&gt;In recognising the increasing number of stockswomen taking part, Mrs Galbraith presented a new trophy for the female gaining highest points throughout the evening.&amp;nbsp; A delighted Lizzie Bland from Penrith YFC was the first recipient of this new award.&lt;/p&gt;</description></item><item><title>Top Dairy Student at Barony Agricultural College</title><link>http://www.cliftonjerseys.co.uk/news.php#29</link><pubDate>2009-06-23</pubDate><description>&lt;p&gt;Following his first year at college studying a NC in Agriculture&amp;nbsp;Robert was awarded top dairy student at Barony Agricultural College, he is currently doing his HNC at Oatridge, Edinburgh.&lt;/p&gt;</description></item></channel></rss>
